Please feel free to send me photos if you are interested in custom-made artwork. The subject can be family photos, first-hand pictures of landscapes, or nearly any other image, with the exception of copyrighted material. I would be happy to suggest an appropriate medium (e.g., pencil, pastels, oils) and an appropriate surface (e.g., heavy-weight paper, stretched canvas). Drawings can be any size, though pieces are typically less than 20 x 26, the size of my largest soft-lead pencil portraits. Paintings can also be most any size. Common sizes are: 8 x 10, 12 x 16, 14 x 18, 16 x 20, and 20 x 24. Note that these sizes do not include the frame, which can easily add an additional two to three inches to all sides.
Naturally, the time needed to complete a piece is related to the medium and size. This relationship is not perfect, however; some larger pieces take less time than some smaller pieces and vice versa. Time is more directly related to the subject and the level of detail involved.
Please note that all oil paintings must be allowed to dry for a minimum of 4 weeks before they are shipped, and preferably longer, depending on the number of layers and thickness of the paint applied. Varnish should be applied between 6 months and one year after the piece is completed to protect the painting. For paintings purchased within 6 months of completion, the varnish can be applied by the owner when the time comes or by me at no additional cost.
